MHA’s trained Information and Assistance
team provides caring, confidential help to individuals and
families who are seeking services from Los Angeles County’s
nonprofit and public system. We place an emphasis on assisting
those who are do not have health insurance, have little or
no ability to pay for services, or receive Medi-Cal.
Working one-to-one with individuals who call or e-mail us,
we locate the specific kind of service they need for themselves,
a family member or friend. We have a large resource listing
of mental health care for adults, teens and children. Our
staff help individuals with related needs such as substance
abuse treatment, support groups, services for homeless people,
housing resources for people with mental illness, benefits
assistance and legal services. We provide information about
the local National Alliance on Mentall Illness family support
group meetings.
MHA has a long-standing reputation as a trusted, effective
referral source. Our team assists individuals in finding
help for their specific needs by listening to each caller’s
problems, educating about service options and researching
resources to make the right match. When needed, we make the
connection with the resource on the caller’s behalf.
