Mental Health America of Los Angeles (MHA) is dedicated to promoting mental health recovery and wellness. Our purpose is to help everyone reach healthy lives – whether the need is recovery from mental illness or is occasional and caused by everyday life. Our message is simple – good mental health is fundamental to the health and well-being of everyone in Los Angeles County.

Founded in 1924, we are one of the county’s oldest nonprofit mental health organizations. MHA is an affiliate of the national Mental Health America and Mental Health America of California.

With cornerstones of service, education, advocacy and training, MHA works to ensure that people with mental illness reach their rightful place as participating, productive members of our community. Our sites are located in Long Beach, Lancaster and Los Angeles.

We have two new education opportunities for you.

MHA is pleased to be part of the National Institute of Mental Health’s Outreach Partnership Program, through which we help disseminate information and distribute materials on a variety of mental health topics.

We invite you to receive regular mental health education updates from us. Send an email to development@mhala.org, and we’ll be sure to include you on our list.

And, we now offer Mental Health First Aid Training in the Los Angeles County area. Tailored for business, education, faith-based, civic and community groups, the training helps participants identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses. Harmony: Music for Mental Health

Spend an afternoon with us on June 1 in Long Beach as musicians from the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra perform chamber music in an annual benefit for MHA. A reception with desserts donated by the Long Beach area’s finest restaurants and bakeries rounds out our event.

We SERVE people with mental illness in service and housing models that help them toward recovery. MHA Village pioneered the “integrated services” model of mental health recovery in California. We ADVOCATE with others who share our belief that people with mental illness deserve equal health care, decent places to live, education opportunities and meaningful jobs. Stay informed about what's happening in mental health on the state and national level. Find out how you can help. (more)	We TRAIN mental health professionals, agencies and systems on recovery-oriented mental health service delivery and evaluation. MHA offers an array of quality training workshops, including our popular multi-day immersion trainings. MHA’s Workforce Development and Training program recently launched a brand, “Build Your Own Box,” that integrates consultation and customization in our training options. (more)
