Housing

If you or someone you know is experiencing homelessness in LA County and want to be matched with a program in your area, the first step is to visit the LA County Homeless Outreach Portal.

Many of the individuals and families that we serve face housing instability or current or prior homelessness. MHALA assists with housing needs at each step in the process —from housing search to acquisition of housing subsidies to housing retention services. In addition to having staff on each team with expertise in housing issues, MHALA has a housing department in each geographic area that we serve.

Once an individual is matched to MHALA's Housing Program through the Coordinated Entry system, we help them identify the kind of available housing that is optimal for them. This can range from an individual apartment in the community to a project-based unit that provides onsite services to shared housing. MHALA partners with many housing developers across LA County to ensure that our members have access to project-based housing.

After an individual acquires housing, every effort is made to assist that member to maintain their housing and continue to provide them with the services that they need.
