Outreach
MHALA’s Outreach teams connect with individuals throughout LA County who are living on the streets, parks, and other public spaces to establish relationships that can lead to resolving housing, mental health, and other issues. These interdisciplinary teams include outreach specialists, nurses, social workers, substance abuse counselors, and people with lived experience — some who once sought help from MHALA.
Drop-In Centers
MHALA offers safe and welcoming centers for those who are homeless and have mental health needs.
Resources at our Drop-in Centers include:
- Showers
- Laundry facilities
- Toiletries
- Lockers
- A closet with clean but gently used clothes
- Assistance applying for benefits
- A place to receive mail
- Information and referrals
- Day-labor work opportunities
- Case management
Specialized Intensive Mobile Homeless Teams
MHALA also has two mobile teams that provide intensive street services to individuals identified as the most vulnerable experiencing homelessness. Staff on these teams engage in street outreach to provide mental health, physical health, substance abuse, housing, benefits, employment/education and case management assistance. These teams continue to provide ongoing care to many of these members as they transition to housing and other services.
Please note our hours of operation have changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
